Update on The Status of Online Poker in Ohio

Hey everybody, Konstantin Yushkevich here, bringing you the latest update on the status of online poker in Ohio.

So a few weeks ago I contacted the offices of Ohio State Representative Shane Wilkin and Ohio Senator Bob Peterson. First of all, I wanted to express my support of the legalization of sports betting, and I also wanted to know when legal online poker will be coming back to the state of Ohio. (House Bill 29 was recently signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine, legalizing sports betting in the state. And there was a lot of talk about online gambling expansion that was due to take place.)

A few weeks went by, and I did not hear from either one of my elected representatives. I was beginning to doubt whether I get a response at all, and contemplated sending a follow up email.

Yet behold, I finally get a response from senator Bob Peterson. It was a post card that arrived via USPS.

Ohio Senator Bob Peterson responding to my inquiry about legal online poker.

The response is basically saying thank you for your email supporting House Bill 29 (That was the legislation that was recently signed into law that legalized sports betting). I appreciate your thoughts YET, I do not know of any current bill that would legalize online poker.

So basically, nothing positive for online poker in Ohio in the near future. Which is very, very sad.
